All Saints church is a Grade II listed building standing in a picturesque location on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds, with a wonderful view. The village has associations with Gilbert of Semperingham through the Gilbertine Priory. The church was rebuilt in the late 1860s-1875 by James Fowler of Louth. Light refreshments will be available throughout the day.

Hainton • St Mary

A church of Anglo-Saxon origins rebuilt in the 13th and 14th centuries and sympathetically restored in the 19th century. The spire was suggested by Capability Brown when he redesigned the park. Inside,

there is a ‘nationally important’ series of absolutely stunning monuments to the Heneage Family. From brass of 1435 to modern memorials of 1954, in varying styles all relating to a time span of one family. Light refreshments available throughout the day.

Our Grade I listed, 12th century church will be open and decorated. A selection of archive records will be on display with photographs. The hand written roll of honour was of interest to many in the past festivals. There is a memorial to Pte Arthur Jackson who was killed in France in 1917. The churchyard holds Commonwealth War Graves. Refreshments will be served. An opportunity to chime the 3 bells. Art exhibition over the weekend.

Swallow - Holy Trinity

Holy Trinity church was started in the Norman period, but after numerous extensions and improvements over the next five centuries went into something of a decline until it was restored by the Victorians, by which time the village also had two Methodist Chapels (both now demolished. The font and the base of the tower are of the earliest period, while piscina is somewhat later, but most of what you can see belongs to the nineteenth century restoration including some rather nice stained glass in the west and south windows and a couple of memorial plaques. The War Memorial is in the churchyard and commemorates three villagers who lost their lives during WWI.

Market Rasen - Holy Rood

This year we want you to enjoy our exciting display of angels which will vary from floral compositions to various mixed media creations. There’s a plant stall too. We have our usual display of vestments including the centuries old Sixhills cope, texts, and silverware. Our organist will play at various times. Light refreshments are available throughout both days. On arrival you can have one of our guides give you a tour or feel free to wander round with your friends.

Major parts of the church date from the Norman period and the Anglican parish register dates from 1562. There are nine rich Norman arches in the nave.The tower was originally Saxon. The church was repaired and enlarged in 1849. Display of flowers.

All Saints church is a beautiful Grade I listed building in a picturesque location in the Lincolnshire Wolds. It has wonderful views over the surrounding countryside. The village has many connections with Alfred Lord Tennyson and the Tennyson family. You can see information in the church, as well as many memorials in stone and stained glass. We also have an interesting collection of needlepoint kneelers and a book about who made them and their connections with the village.

St Mary’s church was originally built around 1228 and rebuilt in 1795 leaving the original tower in place. There are brass effigies of Sir Richard Hansard and his wife Joan from the 15th century. Exhibitions of local history.

Early medieval, Norman arches and Norman font bearing traditional double rope carving around top edge. The lychgate entrance is dedicated to those who lost their lives in WWI. Come along and enjoy a peaceful setting. Hot beef rolls served with locally produced beef.

Kirkby cum Osgodby • St Andrew

St Andrew’s church serves both Kirkby and the adjoining village of Osgodby which has never had an Anglican church of its own. It was built by 1160 and the tower and chancel are both 13th century. The nave was rebuilt in the 19th and 20th century. An interesting feature is the East window which is crooked on one side. No-one knows why.

Welcome, we hope you find our parish church a place of peace as well as of interest. Christians have worshipped on this spot for over 900 years. In the Lady Chapel which was added 1877 as an extension for further seating,the face of a Green Man can be seen on the corbel, this image of pagan origin adopted for the Christian tradition was used for medieval decoration.

This beautiful atmospheric church dates back to the 12th century. It contains beautiful carved stone medieval faces and a rare ‘Leper’s window’ that enabled succour to be passed to those with leprosy who

had to stay outside the church. Ancient sundial on south elevation. Thomas Retford, vicar, courageously gave his life in the Lincolnshire Rising.

Snarford • St Lawrence

Nothing about the rather unremarkable exterior of this small medieval church prepares you for the breathtaking surprise of the interior. St Lawrence has some of the most spectacular memorial sculptures in Lincolnshire. The largest, from the 1580s, features lifesize figures of Sir Thomas St Paul and his wife, members of a dynasty of rich lawyer politicians, Sir Thomas reclines, dressed in armour with a gold chain round his neck, his wife lies beside him elegantly dressed with a ruff and headdress.

Nearby the Jacobean Sir George reclines with his formidable wife Lady France and their only child, the tragic Mattathia.
